Army Private First Class Erik Lane Jorgensen, born December of 1986, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, beloved son of Cindy Crow and Brian Jorgensen; beloved brother of Dana.

He was a graduate of Half Moon Bay High School and was currently attending Boise State, majoring in construction management.

PFC Jorgensen, affectionately known as ‘Jorgi,’ was a member of the US Army, beginning basic training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He completed 91B10 (Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic) Advanced Individual Training at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland.

Erik was assigned to the 657th Forward Support Company, 17th Fires Brigade, in Fort Lewis, Washington and served one year in Afghanistan doing roadside clearance. He was then assigned to Company D, 145th Brigade Support Battalion, 116th Cavalry Brigade Combat Team, Boise, Idaho.

His military awards include Combat Action Ribbon, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (x2), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Idaho Service Ribbon, and Driver Mechanic Badge.

Erik’s infectious smile and laugh touched many, and his broad shoulders were always there for all in need to lean on. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and “mudding” with his friends. He was also an avid reader. PFC Jorgensen was a member of the American Legion, Post 474, in Half Moon Bay.

PFC Erik Lane Jorgensen lost his battle with PTSD, July 19, 2013, in Boise, Idaho. He was 27 years old.
